Sloane and I decided to bring out our inner #BasicChick and had a divine weekend of basic fun that created fantastic memories.

August 10-12th...What a weekend...

Sloane and I seriously had one of the best weekends just hanging around our #hood.

Friday...Fri-YAY

I walked to pick the #Minime up from school. We then went to our playground where she climbed, bounced, and ran her best toddler life. We then went back to her school to discuss the transition of Sloane into the Pre-K2 class.

This is terrible, but I was hoping she would get homework and my hopes became reality. Sloane will be required to complete homework twice a week. I am pumped. I am HIGHLY competitive and I look forward to being THAT parent lol:-)

SideNote: Sloane had a book reading contest at school for the month of April. We read over 50 books in one month. Needless to say...I won...I mean she won lol ;-p

Sa-ta-day

The love we have for our local Farmer's Market...

We get doughnuts made by the local church...buy local fruits, veggies, and CHEESE. I have been really tempted to buy eggs and meat, but I am not sure if I am THAT brave.

On our walk back we stopped by the playground to allow her to live her best life...again!

Next, we headed to Barnes & Noble for storytime. They had a sale so I picked Sloane up three books for the price of one.

We concluded our Saturday with a trip to Home Depot so I could finish buying items I needed to redo the chester drawer in my room.

See the before and after below

(Yes, I have too many clothes for my too little closet...very aware of this #1stWorldProblem)

My company was kind enough to do a family event at the Brookfield Zoo.

It was a free event and a wonderful opportunity to meet other employees and/or their families.

It was also an opportunity to see if Sloane had FINALLY gotten over her thing with animals...she has not lol. BUT she has improved.

Contrary to the photographic evidence, she was very excited to feed the giraffe...until she was not.

I, on the other-hand, was able to complete a #bucketlist goal of mine. Also, I have mad love for giraffes. Like, they may be my knew favorite animal. I felt a connection to them.

We were able to find animals that she seemed to connect.

The Splash Park was the biggest hit. I leaned into the fact that she is a toddler and allowed her to run through with the clothes she had on vs the swimsuit/coverup/swim shoes I wanted her to wear at the Splash park.

Her way actually worked out because it was so hot...it made more sense for her to wear the lesser clothing options after the splash to help her cool down.

***On a separate note...I did discover something about myself. I do not like zoos. I am not a fan of the animals being locked up and there for entertainment.

Like majority of the animals seemed like they were under some form of duress. No matter how much like home you make it, IT IS NOT THEIR HOME.

It is actually ironic that zoos even still exist now. Like if someone was to come up with the idea of a zoo now...it would be ROYALLY rejected.***

Overall, we had a GOOD weekend. It was good old fashioned fun at pretty much NO COST.
