Happy Memorial Day Folks!

The mini-me and I decided to have a low key Memorial Day weekend. The beauty about living in a city like Chicago is the ENDLESS opportunities of entertainment. So many events, so many festivals, so many different parts of the city to explore.

Get to Googling

The first thing I do before a weekend with my little is Google kid-friendly events happening in the city.

Look, I have to be honest. There is nothing that I would rather do than absolutely NOTHING on the weekends. HOWEVER, I have lived life...my little is just getting started. Cue the Happy Medium - events happening either in my part of the city or within comfortable driving/commuting range.

Ball on a Budget

As a #SMOM and a student loan having #milennial, I am always and eternally ballin' on a budget! Cool thing about #LittleLadySloane is that she is super easy to please and entertain. Most things that are fun for kids her age are FREE! So the Universe does this beautiful thing of allowing you to create a magical memory and spend next to nothing.

Here are our results...

Local Farmers' Market

So like this is a LEGIT event...

Even though I am a #SouthernGal...I had never been to a Farmers' Market before this weekend. To say that I have been missing out is an understatement. The beautiful flowers, fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, and fresh out the chicken eggs...this is the place where organic dreams are made!

I was able to grab some local honey...needed it for my severe case of allergies. (Old wives tale...has yet to be confirmed or denied by Science). I also got to change my voter's registration information. Sloane loved people watching and the colorful doors a local church had displayed.

My Neighborhood hosts the Local Farmers' Market every Saturday from 7am -1pm. We will be there every single Saturday that permits.

Barnes & Noble Storytime

One of my FAV things to do with Sloane is Barnes & Noble's Storytime. Every week, your local B&N hosts a storytime with activities to follow. These activities include a book read to children, an art activity, and possibly an additional activity. B&N has a little stage area so the children...specifically...my child lol...can go on stage and dance/partake in the story with the reader.

All of this is free of charge! Check out your local Barnes & Noble for more info!
