In true #Leo fashion, we have been celebrating the #MiniMe birthday for one week straight...Gotta love those Leos!

Last weekend, Sloane and I flew to Memphis to throw a Backyard Bash Book Drive for her 2nd Birthday!

My parents were nice enough to allow me to entertain friends and family at their house. The theme was a Backyard Bash and Book Drive.

I rented a bounce house. Shout out to Space Walk of Germantown. https://herecomesfun.com/GER/space-walk-of-germantown

Their customer service was above and beyond. The weather showed signs of thunderstorm after thunderstorm. I was concerned that the rental would be for not. Space Walk was so understanding. They have an excellent cancellation policy and allowed me to cancel-hassle free-as late as the morning of the party.

Fortunately, the heavens smiled on us and allowed for a beautiful Saturday for hosting a 2nd Birthday Party.

In addition to the bounce house, I was able to buy the following items for the kids to play with:

  • Inflatable Bowling Set

  • Inflatable Yard Dice

  • Inflatable Tic-Tac-Toe

  • Mini Splash Pool

Target had an AMAZING deal on the inflatable items. The most I pad for these was $5! Gotta love Target's dollar section:-)

My sister was ON ME because I did not have any "real" viable Bday Party options for the #MiniMe to wear. Once again, Target came to the rescue. I got her jumpsuit, purse, and headband for a total of TEN DOLLAS!!! I found her shoes at Old Navy for a whopping FIVE DOLLAS.

I was able to re-purpose decor I used from her birthday party last year.

I knew I needed a kids table and chairs. Thanks to Party Concepts for meeting my needs at an excellent price. http://partyconcepts.net/ I have to mention, Party Concepts does not have a minimum amount that must be spent for a rental, so that is why they get my vote!

Of course, I hit up Dollar Tree for the table cloth, plates, napkins, and flatware.

Back to Target for the number 2 balloons. Party City was nice enough to blow up the balloons.

Hobby Lobby provided the Happy Birthday Yard sign.

Goodie Bags courtesy of Dollar Tree!

My mom is a BIG entertainer, so she had the rest of the items-including balloons, paper flowers, table cloths, table runners, champagne glasses for the mimosa bar, water pitcher, cake stand, three-tier cupcake stands, flatware holder, and adjustable cooler...literally SHE.HAS.EVERYTHING.

What my mom did not have, my girl Veronica came in. Whether Veronica knows it or not...she is a BIG entertainer as well...she has hosted tons of bday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, etc etc lol.

Sloane is such a blessed and loved little girl. It is important for Sloane to learn that because she is so blessed....she must be a blessing to others.

My friend, Kate, told me about how she attended a birthday party where the attendees were asked to bring a book to make a donation in the child's name. I INSTANTLY fell in love with that idea and knew it was something I wanted to do.

I added a little twist. Sloane's father agreed to match the book donations. Sloane raised a total of 15 books and will be able to make a donation of 30 books to Pacific Garden Mission Women and Children's Shelter. https://www.pgm.org/ways-to-give/donate-goods/

Will post pics of Sloane mailing her donation later this week/early next week!

In this world of selfie central (Hey...we ALL love a good selfie) and lack of authenticity, it is so important to me that I raise a child who is humble, real, and knows the importance of teaching people how to fish!

The devil is in the last minute details

Of course, I was last minute in getting this all together lol. It's just how I like to plan my parties...even with me loving to entertain.

Her big day

For Sloane's actual birthday, I brought doughnuts and goodie bags for her classmates to enjoy. Her school made her day so special. The kids all made cards for her and just did a day planned around her birthday. It made this #workingmom feel so so good. I could not take off on her birthday and her father had to be out of town for work, so the daycare filled in to make her day super special.

Also, everywhere we went people made her feel so special. At Trader Joe's, they gave her free chocolate on the house-she is not big on candy...so they gave me chocolate lol :-) The people at Target sang Happy Birthday to her...probably because I go in there so often...it is the least they could do #shrugs

I took her to the playground on the walk home. We ended the day with me making her favorite meal -pancakes and bacon;-p. We sang Happy Birthday, read cards, opened gifts, and just settled into her new life as a two year old...that blog post is coming later because BOY is she showing me who's boss! :-o

gratitude!

These kids had.a.BLAST! Like...I'm talking took three hour naps when they got home lol. It was so nice to be surrounded by some of the many people that love #LittleLadySloane. She had so so so much fun. I couldn't keep up with her lol.

People traveled from near and far to come show Sloane some love. To say I am thankful and humbled, would be an understatement.

Special thanks again to my family and friends for attending and helping set up and take down;-)
